On behalf of the board of directors and staff at Farmer Bob’s World, thank you to the Bank of the Sierra for supporting our family friendly wagon tours with a grant for $5,000. This grant is designated to support local schools with 80-100% low or very low-income students. The vision is to provide an interactive opportunity for students to engage with a local Citrus farmer and learn more about local agriculture and its contribution to the economy and the world food production.

There is a real disconnect between food production and the consumer and we believe that children need to learn where their food comes from and how it is grown. Farmer Bob’s World offers an up-close opportunity to see, smell and taste oranges and the environment where they are grown. They get the opportunity to be in nature, be inquisitive and discover the opportunities for their future engagement with agriculture, whether it’s learning about how to eat healthy food, or the many different ways to plan for a career when they get older.

The Bank for the Sierra funding will pay for the cost of transportation to Farmer Bob’s World and cover the ticket cost for the students. We hope to continue this scholarship program for more students in Tulare County and beyond. If you wish to contribute, please go to our donation page

Thank you again to Bank of the Sierra for supporting Farmer Bob’s World and our mission to foster the relationship between farmers, food, and families by offering a real farm experience.
